Another Wednesday, another meme!

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

  • Mamnik by Vasil Popov: I don’t read horror; this book has been recommended to me by two friends of mine, and I have been reassured that it is not scary. And I am glad I listened to them because I am loving the plot, the Bulgarian folklore, the historical details, and the characters are simply great. I am almost done with it and cannot wait to read the rest of the books and watch the TV series. I will describe this as a fantasy/thriller rather than a horror. Unfortunately, the books are not yet translated, but if they ever are, I highly recommend you give them a go.

In the village of Vrakola, near Trun, extraordinary things are happening—several people have been murdered in a way never seen before, while others wake up with strange marks on their bodies. It is as if an inhuman evil has descended upon the village. Emil, a nursing home resident, joins forces with border police officer Bozhana Gorneva to investigate the mysterious incidents. Their search leads them to long-buried secrets from the past and to a monster from Bulgarian folklore that has come to life. In their battle against evil, they will also be aided by a resurrected man with unfinished business in this world…

WHAT DID YOU READ LAST?

WHAT WILL YOU READ NEXT?

Honestly, I have been pleasantly surprised to find out that I have been approved to read Outside by Charlotte Levin, and I am very excited to read this book that is coming out in August. I will be reading the second book in the Mamnik series called Lehusa.

Let me know what your WWWs are and if you would read any of these books! Happy reading!

Here it was so hot these past days, and today it decided to pour down! A proper thunder with lightning and all, and it’s still going. We were outside and came back home all drenched 😀 a core memory of all of us haha
