“Who wouldn’t want to go off on a grand adventure with a bunch of hot heroes also chosen by the goddess?” Me bitches. No, thank you. Biceps are nice, but so was not having my guts eaten by an orc.”
― Kimberly Lemming, That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon
Right, the beginning of this adventure was quite funny, with a veil of mystery surrounding our main character and the plot as a whole. My curiosity was poked, and I was all in for it. There were some funny bits, some adventure, a lot of action both in and out of the bed, if you know what I mean…
To whoever said this book was spicy, well, they were not joking… this is probably the spiciest book that I have ever read, and although I did not mind the explicit language, I found it irrelevant to the story, and I simply wished there was more adventure and plot building rather than “I want your d!ck all the time…” It put me off, but I guess I can understand why some people might like this type of content.
It was definitely not something I would have picked on my own, this book was described to me as funny and cosy, which I found not to be exactly true and not what I bargained for.
After Cin and Fallon reached Wandermere everything went downhill for me. The plot was all over the place, I think the author was not even interested in the main scope of this book anymore, but it quickly turned into a hot mess with mostly smut in it with some action thrown here and there. I mean, writing full pages of pure explicit and descriptive content of how X slid into Y just ain’t it. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind some spiciness like I mentioned, but damn, I want to read about the story too, it was supposed to be a funny, cosy, adventurous read, not some straight-up p0rn…
Nevertheless, there were parts I enjoyed, but the majority was disappointing as I found plotholes and questionable character choices.
I did like the family dynamics of our main character Cin, wished there was a lot more of it!
All this said, I still think I might read the rest of the books in this series in the hope that it will get better at the fun and cosy part lol
P.S. I love the cover!
