A lighthearted friends-to-lovers funny, romantic, and easy read.

Alright, I did not know what to expect from this book I only saw a lot of people reading it and it was showing a lot on my social media so I decided to give it a try.

I did enjoy it, it was lighthearted, wholesome, and quite funny at times. However, there were a few things that I had an issue with and just did not rub me the right way therefore, I had to give it 3 stars regardless of how much I liked the relationship between Nathan and Bree in the beginning.

SPOILER SECTION

The beginning was great, I did enjoy how their friendship was shown, and loved to see both points of view of Bree and Nathan. I enjoyed how close he was with his teammates and also Bree with her sister. That was wholesome.

However, they were what in their twenties? or late twenties, and their behaviour at times was very questionable and non-believable. Had they been in high school, it would have been acceptable. This is what I struggled the most with, I love friends to lovers trope, but please for the love of reading stop with this misunderstanding and unsaid things trope especially when it is so obvious that one little hint or one word could have ended it right there and then. I am really tired of this “misunderstanding-but-everybody-else-knows-they-are-into-each-other-but-they-won’t-admit-it” type of trope and it just ruins the whole fun for me when it is not done right. This aside, the slow burn in this one was just meh, a few times I just wish I could shake them both and tell them ffs just get on with it already we all see you are drooling over one another, what with the but I dont want to ruin our friendship, but what if he does not like me that way and vice-versa. A grown-up person will just go to the person they like and say it or at least test the waters without all this bloody drama lol I am getting mad haha

So, this is the aspect that irked me the most, this said, I did find Nathan and Bree lovely when they were acting like every other human in love would do. What I did not get is that was all the beforehand telling what he is going to do to her I mean I get it is related to consent, and this is alright, but the fuck man. If I am head over heels about someone and we are kissing like there is no tomorrow and it is clear we both want it why the hell would you stop and tell me: I think we should wait until we get married…. like hello?? are you f. kidding me right now? Ohh it did anger me seriously who the hell does that when they are about to get under the covers after 6 years of secretly liking and yearning for each other. Do you guys, do that? Is this some new trend I am unaware of?

Yeah, Imma wrap it here cuz I am getting angrier the more I think about this lol…

As much as I wanted to love this book, it did not hit the sweet spot for me.

Great review! I definitely felt the same about how they acted. It didn’t fit their age range and was annoying lol.
