There, she meets Pilu, a lost tree spirit who can’t find her way back home—which turns out to be the magnolia grove Willow’s mom used to take her to. Willow offers to help Pilu, and the two quickly become friends.
But the journey is long, and Pilu isn’t sure she’s ready to return home yet—which infuriates Willow, who’s determined to make up for her own mistakes by getting Pilu back safely. REVIEW:
If you read only one graphic novel this year, let it be this one!!
Not only is the art amazing, cosy and whimsical, but the message itself is beautiful, heartwarming, and gut-punching all at once. It will bring back memories of your own childhood, make you nostalgic, and leave you feeling both sad and happy. Most importantly, it makes you stop and think: about how we treat the people who love us most, and about the things we said and did that hurt them—and ourselves.
This is such a deep and powerful graphic novel that explores grief, friendship, self-discovery and how to face the issues and monsters that are hiding beneath our beds.
It made me cry, it made me reflect, and it made me pick up the phone and tell my most dear people how much I love and care about them.
5 out of 5 stars, highly recommended for all age groups.
