Here I go with my 2nd book down for the Classics Club challenge from 1st of May 2025 to 1st of May 2030. I did not read as many classics as I would have liked last year, but this year, I will try to read at least 10 by the end of 2026. Not making any promises, though, since life is very unpredictable.

The Wind in the Willows, what a whimsical and lovely book this one was. It gave me Peter Rabbit vibes, which reminds me I still need to complete it!
It transported me to a time when anything was possible with a little bit of imagination. Before the internet, before the TV and everything else created for our “comfort” was even thought of, there was a river somewhere in little old England where animals had adventures, explored the world around them, learnt a few things the hard way, but overall, friendship and loyalty prevailed.
This is one of those books that just had to be read, in my opinion. We follow a few animals, the Mole, the river Rat, the Badger and Toad, mainly with their adventures and mishaps, whilst the author is also giving us a vivid description of their surroundings. It was delightful to read and imagine how everything and everyone might look like.
I very much enjoyed the river Rat, the Mole, and the Badger. They had very interesting personalities and qualities. The Toad was a different matter; he was always up to some mischief and never learnt his lesson. He was indeed a character that you just want to give a good shake of, but end up liking nonetheless. Their friendship and loyalty to one another teach us an invaluable lesson. The author portrays very well what it means to have good friends through thick and thin, so to speak, not to give up your dreams, but also to be realistic about it and not to dive headfirst into things. At least, these are the impressions I got from this book.
Overall, it was a more than enjoyable experience, and it got a solid 4 stars from me.
