The topic for this Tuesday: Top 5 series I will finish in 2026

Oh, this is a topic I am very excited about. There are a ton of series waiting for me to tackle them, and here I am happy to announce the top 5 (6) series I will (hopefully) finish this year!

  1. Shadow and Bone + Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: I am putting them together because they go hand in hand, and I have been meaning to complete reading these books forever. I think the time has come to actually do it.
  2. Emily Wilde’s trilogy by Heather Fawcett: another set of books I need to get to.
  3. Anne of Green Gables by L.M Montgomery: A classic children’s series. I am aware that there are a lot of books in this series, but I will try my best to read as many as I can this year.
  4. A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness: I started this series ages ago, and I still have not completed it. And I loved the first book, so I don’t really know why I didn’t continue…
  5. Beartown by Fredrik Backman: Ohh, this one has been patiently waiting for me for my muse to come and pick it up. Since this year is the year of venturing outside of my comfort zone, this trilogy had to be included. A huge plus is that I love Backman, and I have high hopes for this one.

I would like to add one additional series since I am also into my romantic era, no judgment, please! LOL

6. Magnolia Falls Series by Laura Pavlov: Not going to hide it, I have the urge to read romance books, and this one was recommended to me. I know nothing about it, just that it is worth it.

Have you read any of these series? I’d love to hear your thoughts on them, even if you haven’t read them.

  1. wow, so you did both Top Ten Tuesday, AND Top 5! Amazing.
I have read a couple by Backman, but they sounded kind of the same to me, and I need things more meaty, lol

    1. Yes! I had some free time to pre-schedule the posts haha thankfully the little one was busy playing by herself, ah, the little joys 😊 Oh, no that’s unfortunate. I read two books too A Man Called Ove and My Friends but I fell in love with his writing and storytelling. But we can’t like them all, and everyone has their own taste. At least you gave him a chance. I hope I will like The Beartown too and you end up having some great reads this year.

  2. Good Luck, Lin. I’m also working on trying to complete several series this year as well. We’ll see how many I actually finish.

    1. Thank you, Carla! Let’s have our fingers crossed that we will manage to go through these series and enjoy them 🙂 is there a particular series you are most excited about reading?

      1. I really like crime thrillers so have 3 of those to finish, as well as some romance. Throw in a couple cozy mystery series and it’s hard to decide.

      2. I know the pain!! Do you find that your taste in books has changed? I am noticing that I no longer enjoy YA, for example, and discovered I like romance and cosy mystery.

      3. Yes, I used to read a lot of YA as well, also mainline fiction, which I still enjoy, but have so many new authors that I love, I don’t read it as often. I never used to read Historical Fiction, now that is one of my favourite genres.

      4. There are so many great genres waiting for us out there! But YA is not doing anything for me anymore for various reasons. I stray away from historical fictions I don’t really know why, but this year I’m planning to change that. Kristin Hannah is on my top list for this genre. What is your favourite historical fiction novel?

      5. Kristin Hannah is a great author to start with, but DON’T start with The Four Winds, it is really depressing. She makes history come alive. Chanel Cleeton is great and she writes historical fiction dealing with Spanish and Cuban characters, Susan Meissner, Mario Escobar and Fiona Davis are all favourite historical fiction authors. I have 2 books I loved, The Girl from Guernica and The Thread Collectors. I hope you enjoy your foray into histfic, Lin.
