MY RATING:

Synopsis:
A farm-fresh debut graphic novel starring a heroine who is braver than she realizes.
Garlic feels as though she’s always doing something wrong. At least with her friend Carrot by her side and the kindly Witch Agnes encouraging her, Garlic is happy to just tend her garden, where it’s nice and safe.
Read More:
But when her village of vegetable folk learns that a bloodthirsty vampire has moved into the nearby castle, they all agree that, in spite of her fear and self-doubt, Garlic is the obvious choice to confront him. And with everyone counting on her, Garlic reluctantly agrees to face the mysterious vampire, hoping she has what it takes.
After all, garlic drives away vampires…right?

REVIEW:
Loved the art, the story not so much. I guess it was alright, given the targeted audience is from 7+. It was cosy, yes, but there was not really any plot or story. Just vibes mostly. The vampire was the most likeable character; Garlic was annoying. Again, the art and the illustrations are great.
MY RATING:

Synopsis:
Bree Paulsen’s brave little protagonist, Garlic, is back in this charmingly illustrated standalone companion to Garlic and the Vampire, serving up another tale of friendship, magic, and self-discovery. Give both books to readers who fell in love with Tidesong or Witch Boy!
Read More:
Garlic loves spending time with Witch Agnes, Carrot, and her new friend, the Count, who has proven to be a delightful neighbor to the village of vegetable people rather than a scary vampire. But despite Agnes’s best attempts to home-brew a vegetarian blood substitute for Count, the ingredient she needs most can only be found at the Magic Market, far from the valley.
Before she knows it, with a broomstick in hand, Garlic is nervously preparing for a journey.
But Garlic is experiencing another change too–finger by finger, she appears to be turning human. Witch Agnes assures her that this is normal for her garden magic, but Garlic isn’t so sure that she’s ready for such a big change. After all, changes are scary…and what if she doesn’t want to be human after all?

REVIEW:
In the sequel, the story got a little better, and we got to see more of the Vampire and Agnes. Again, cosy vibes and great illustrations. Plot-wise, nothing is really going on except for one major thing that is not really well developed. It was and Ok read.
Both graphic novels got a solid 3 stars.

REVIEW:
This one was a miss for me personally. Morgan was really irritating; she made some questionable decisions and, overall, was not a good role model. The selkie idea was cute, I will give the author that, but everything felt weird and rushed and just not clicking together. I did like the art, but the execution and storytelling were not there for me. I had high hopes for this one. I wished there was more of Keltie and her kind and her story; instead, we got an insta love and just a lot of things going on, but nothing really was actually happening.
Solid 3 stars for me.
