Prompts: What makes you keep a book on your TBR? Find a random number generator and put in the number of books on your TBR. Roll 5 times and note down the book each number corresponds to on your list and tell us: what made you add the book to your shelf (Was it a cover add? Does it have your favourite tropes? How long has it been on your TBR? If it has been on your TBR for a long time, do you still want to read it or have you lost interest)?
Happy Friday, lovely bookish people! We all have caught a cold, but are doing well. I hope you are all doing great and staying away from cold and flu!
1. What makes you keep a book on your TBR?
Here I must confess it has been a while since I last checked upon my TBR… It has grown exponentially, and this is not good!! There are so many books that need to go away from it for various reasons. But to answer the question, I suppose it all depends on whether I still have a genuine interest in reading said book. In case I still find my interest and curiosity sparked when I see the cover or read the blurb, then that book stays; otherwise, bye! Personally, I do not follow trends and peer pressure to read a book/series either.

I have no memory of this book, but I guess I added it because I love middle-grade books and definitely because of the cover!

Ah, a classic! Definitely one I would love to read sooner rather than later.

A Monster Calls was amazing, so I simply added this book to my TBR because I wanted to read more of this author.

When I was working in the ED in the UK, my literature consisted of medical books/textbooks. This one I still have not read, but I would still love to.

No memory whatsoever of this book or why I wanted to read it back in 2017… Not sure if I will keep it, though.
There are nearly 3000 titles currently on my TBR. I urgently need to go through all of them and select which ones stay and which ones go. To be realistic, there is not enough time to read all of them, and I often fall victim to the cover art, and when you read the blurb, it’s nothing like what you thought or expected. I definitely see a massive misleading advertisement movement of books nowadays, advertising that you will get a certain story or trope, but when you actually read the book, it is something else entirely. This is a topic for another time.
Stay well, happy reading and have a wonderful day!
