The topic for this Tuesday: Top 5 classics I meant to read (but never got around to)
Happy Tuesday, all! I decided to return to this meme just in time, as I ought to partake in a classics book challenge where I talk about it in this post. So I thought: “Oh, if this isn’t the reminder I needed to kick my arse and actually pick those classics!”. Fast forward to now, here I am selecting 5 for today’s purpose (even though there are soooo many and I really struggled to make my pick!)
- The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas: I’m not going to lie, this is one brick of a book, and as such, it is very intimidating. However, this was my late granny’s favourite one, and I have been postponing picking it up as long as I can remember. Not only because of its length, but also because of what it would mean to read it. Dealing with grief is a complicated and fragile thing, and I feel that by reading it, it will mark the end of my grieving, and I don’t think I am ready for it to end just yet.
- The Waves by Virginia Woolf: I have wanted to read this one since I was in high school, mind you, this is more than 2 decades ago now (OMG I am olddddd), so here it is, standing loud and proud (LOL don’t mind me I am in a mood today)
- Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë: Another book that has been sitting quietly in the dark and has been recommended to me more times than I could count, yet here I am still not having read it…
- The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot: This one really appeals to me, and I hope to read it soon!
- The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame: Love the premise, love the cover!
