Book Blogger Hop is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. The meme occurs weekly, on a Friday. Each week, a specific prompt is chosen, a book-related question for participants to address.
Since I missed last week’s meme, I am merging them into one!
2nd of May Prompt: What’s your typical process for writing a book review, from reading the book to publishing the review on your blog? (submitted by Page @ Pages of Perfiction)
I tend to jot down thoughts as I read, which helps me build the review later on. Especially if the book is more complex or has more details and elements to remember, or I would like to pay more attention to and deem important to include in the review.
My process of writing the review is simple: summarise the plot of the book, then write about my thoughts and share the bad, the good and the ugly.. I always share my honest opinion and am not giving in to peer pressure, nor the popularity of the book or author.
I think that there is nothing more important than to share our honest view, and I dare say that most of the books I loved have been rated 3 stars or lower, so I strongly believe there is no bad review really, because we are all different, and what works for some might not cut it for others and vice versa.
Today’s Prompt: Have you ever looked at the young adult book section in a modern bookstore and felt out of touch or old? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
Not really, no. Or at least not yet LOL. I love reading middle-grade and children’s books and YA. Deep down, I guess I am still a child full of wonder and curiosity, and ok, the occasional tantrum haha, but seriously, I think being able to still enjoy these genres at 20, 30, 40, 50, and so on years of age makes you only great and had so many benefits for your inner child and soul. We should never forget we were little once, and that spark when we discover something new or something exciting should always be kept alight, no matter what people say! One thing I always tell myself is, “I don’t live to please others, I live to enjoy my short time here on earth and try to be as happy as possible”!
So, back to the topic, I do understand that this might not be everyone’s jam, and this is alright, I am talking about us grown-ups who still enjoy kicking that ball, or playing hide and seek, and why not read that middle-grade/YA novel! If anything, the adult section makes me feel out of touch hahah
You do you, as long as it makes you happy!
