Book Blogger Hop is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. The meme occurs weekly, on a Friday. Each week, a specific prompt is chosen, a book-related question for participants to address.

I missed the last one but here I am now!

Today’s prompt: How many days does it usually take you to finish reading a book? – submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Review

It really depends on a lot of things. If I really enjoy the book I can fly through it and finish it within a day or two (if my baby girl will allow me that is!) but on average I would say between 4 to 5 days.

If I am listening to an audiobook will take me a maximum of up to 3 days as I listen mostly at 1.70x speed. And thankfully I can listen to it all day when my husband is at work and the little one really enjoys it too. I will teach her English and might as well start now getting her accustomed to the sound of it. The younger they start the easier. My mum enrolled me in an English class since kindergarten and this really helped me growing up a loot.

In case the book is more complex and requires my attention more I will take my time with it and might exceed the 5-day mark. This rings true especially when I am reading nonfiction books and a lot of the content resonates with me and I want to savour it and really take it in.

Happy reading 🙂

  1. It really depends on the books!
    I looked at my 2024 stats: https://wordsandpeace.com/2025/01/02/year-of-reading-2024-part-2-statistics/

    Last year then: 108 books reads (107 in 2023), and 53 listened to (50 in 2023) = 161 (157 in 2023)which is an average of 13.4/month.
So that means as an aveage, 2 days and a few hours per book.

I have finished 47 books since the beginning of this year, so the average is also 2 days and a few less hours than in 2024.

I hope you love stats lol lol lol

    1. WOW this is impressive you must be a fast reader then. And well done on these numbers I currently am at 34 books with 3 audiobooks so far (included in the 34 number) No matter how fast I try to read it is always 4/5 days for me for an ebook/physical for audio 2/3 days sometimes even 1 but rarely nowadays with the baby.

      Thank you for sharing this!

Welp, I post a review five days a week at Reading Reality https://www.readingreality.net which means I have to have READ something to review. So for a book under 400 pages, it generally takes a day. If I have something longer I plan so it gets read over the weekend where I have an extra couple of days to work with or throw in an audiobook or a novella. It all works out, sorta/kinda and occasionally by the skin of my teeth – but I’m having a GREAT time!

    1. Still you must be a fast reared! I am on the slow side haha also having a baby does not help when I want to write a review, since I have to be on my laptop, and can’t do it from the phone. But definitely reading should be enjoyable not feel like a chore! I absolutely enjoy your content so keep on posting 🙂

  3. Definitely agree about nonfiction – that usually takes me longer too as I have to approach it in smaller chunks (and will sometimes read them alongside a fiction book)

    1. Yess, I find that I need to give it my full attention. Whilst the other genres don’t require this from me, since they are for escapism. I do the same too I often read 2 or 3 books at the same time since I am a mood reader and will have a few books to pick and choose from depending on my mood haha
