A warm and uplifting novel about an isolated witch whose opportunity to embrace a quirky new family–and a new love–changes the course of her life.
Read More:
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules…with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos pretending to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.
But someone does. An unexpected message arrives, begging her to travel to the remote and mysterious Nowhere House to teach three young witches how to control their magic. It breaks all of the rules, but Mika goes anyway, and is immediately tangled up in the lives and secrets of not only her three charges, but also an absent archaeologist, a retired actor, two long-suffering caretakers, and…Jamie. The handsome and prickly librarian of Nowhere House would do anything to protect the children, and as far as he’s concerned, a stranger like Mika is a threat. An irritatingly appealing threat.
As Mika begins to find her place at Nowhere House, the thought of belonging somewhere begins to feel like a real possibility. But magic isn’t the only danger in the world, and when a threat comes knocking at their door, Mika will need to decide whether to risk everything to protect a found family she didn’t know she was looking for…

THE REVIEW:
Okk The House in the Cerulean Sea meets Merry Poppins! Full of warmth, heart, irregular witches and a little bit of romance. Oh and cute doggo! Circe hide cuz if I find you you ain’t going anywhere!!
Now my affection outburst aside, this was a really cosy and cute British story! Well done for finally including OLDER FMC!!! Mika is 31 years old! My age group and it was so refreshing to read about a mature character for once, someone I can see myself relating to on so many levels!
In this world, witches are not allowed to be friends with one another, they are not to meet with each other and certainly cannot live together nor share with anyone about their true identity. We follow Mika a witch who makes cosy videos pretending to be a witch she is the pebble that will make the ripple. Until one day she receives a mysterious message that invites her to Nowhere House with a very interesting offer…
And this is the start of Mika’s adventure of self-discovery, newfound family, healing and simply letting herself live and feel! Mika is definitely an amazing representation of an older FMC who’s been struggling with a lot in her life, and I grew to love her.
What I really appreciated is that this book dives deep, into the surface it may look like a fun cosy read, which absolutely it is, but it has a lot of layers which make the story and its characters multidimensional, complex and very much relatable.
Ken and Ian remind me so much of Arthur and Linus! Their relationship is wholesome and funny and OMG Ian gives golden retriever energy haha!
Jamie is a great enigmatic character and I adored his grumpy, sassy turn-to-mush development!
Also the kids!! Yess they were pure and fun and learnt important life lessons not only magic!
I really, really liked Primrose as a multifaceted character I wish there was more of her and her background story. She was definitely someone who grows on you as the story goes on and the more you find out the clearer her choices were and why she did what she did.
Fingers crossed that there will be a sequel I really wish there was one because it feels like there are so many things yet to be discovered in this world!
Highly recommend it if you are craving a warm hug!
