Summary:

Two people. Infinite lifetimes. One impossible choice.

Thora and Santi are strangers in a foreign city when a chance encounter intertwines their fates. At once, they recognize in each other a kindred spirit—someone who shares their insatiable curiosity, who is longing for more in life than the cards they’ve been dealt. Only days later, though, a tragic accident cuts their story short.

But this is only one of the many connections they share. Like satellites trapped in orbit around each other, Thora and Santi are destined to meet again: as a teacher and prodigy student; a caretaker and dying patient; a cynic and a believer. In numerous lives they become friends, colleagues, lovers, and enemies. But as blurred memories and strange patterns compound, Thora and Santi come to a shocking revelation—they must discover the truth of their mysterious attachment before their many lives come to one, final end.

How to put this nicely, I have no idea. I really wanted to enjoy this one, given the summary of it. It vowed to be somewhat romantic, with some sci-fi elements in there where we sure get to a point: a plot that is the main scope of the whole book. Alas, there was none, I am still left wondering what the whole purpose of this book is, and just when something started to happen, it ended like a shooting star. One moment, you see it, and the next is gone.

This book was a huge letdown and, and was literally painful reading it.

THE REVIEW:

Santi and Thora, our main protagonists, have their lives intertwined in a unique way. Although they lead different lives, they continually cross paths with one another. Throughout their encounters, neither of them changes; Thora remains Thora, and Santi remains Santi. They find themselves pondering the same existential questions repeatedly, seeking to uncover some hidden message from God or some deeper mystery in their lives. Which is great, the first few chapters i was intrigued and very meaningful topics were touched.

But it started to be bothersome when, throughout the whole book, the same bloody thing was being presented to us over and over and over again. I thought I was going mad because I was reading the same thing every page I turned but from a different perspective. The same things kept happening, only their relationships kept changing. In one chapter, they are a father and daughter. Next, they are married. Next, they are brother and sister. Like, ok, we get it, endless possible scenarios just pick a couple stuck whit them and get to the damn point already?

The ending and the revelation did not give me the WOW factor I was expecting after all that rambling of the same topics throughout the whole book. At this point, I cared more about the street cats than I did about these characters and story. It just ended like that.

I had to skim through some chapters in the middle, I was bored out of my mind due to the perpetual dialogues they were having… Really, this book had a great premise, but the execution was poorly done, and it could have been kept as a short story because that’s what every chapter was.

Did we really need all those alternative lives and different relationship scenarios to get to the point? No. We did not. It made the book so much more boresome and pretentious than it should have been. This book could have been 100 pages long and would have had a better impact had all the rambling been cut off.

I was more interested and invested in the last part of the book than I was through 90% of it…

Do not recommend, save yourself the time and pick a book worth your while.
