Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Today’s prompt: Quotes From/About Books (Share book quotes you love, quotes about being a reader, etc.)

Happy Tuesday! We have had lovely weather these past couple of days and are always outside playing with the little one. Today’s topic is not really inspiring me, so I will go rogue and do one from previous TTT: Books I have decided I am no longer interested in reading!

  1. Anything by Sarah J. Maas, sorry for the fans out there, but there are so many other books waiting, and I don’t want to waste my time reading series upon series. I mean nothing against whoever likes the books or the author, I just don’t think her books would be my cup of tea.
  2. A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara: way too many triggers in here for me, I don’t want to put myself in a situation where I deliberately read something horrible, and then I activate old traumas. Hard pass.
  3. The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon: This one was a very hyped book. However, I am past the insta-love, insta anything phase, and I know I would not enjoy it.
  4. Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross: I don’t particularly remember enjoying the first book, and honestly I can’t recall anything from the story, so not interested in these books anymore.
  5. Watership Down by Richard Adams: It really pains me ot be adding these series here, believe me, I really wanted to read them. But I know I am a crybaby, and I know I would be hurt, so again don’t want to go through that.
  6. The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo: I tried reading this book on several occasions, but it is not for me.
  7. Wilder Girls by Rory Power: No, not feeling this one either. Also, I don’t usually read horror. There are a few exceptions here and there, and this one did not make the cut.
  8. Wolfsong by T.J. Klune: Even though I love Klune’s writing, this one is a pass. After learning about the age gap and underage romance, no. It doesn’t matter if nothing happened until later, still, a 16-year-old falling in love with a 10-year-old, I’d rather not support this agenda, thanks.
  9. Saint Catherine by Anna Meyer: I thought I might enjoy this graphic novel, but reading some reviews made me rethink, and I see it won’t do it for me.
  10. The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood: Last but not least, this would give me nightmares. Speculative literature should not be on my radar, it only gives me anxiety and fear that whatever is going on might actually happen if not happening already in real life.

Happy reading! Which book/s don’t you feel like reading anymore, and why?

  1. Completely understand

I did read The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood back in the 90s and have watched in horror as the U.S. keeps moving in this direction.

    1. Exactly! I think we already are living in a dystopian novel to an extent, and it is scary. The fewer books I read about it, the better, honestly. It is very sad not only for the US but the whole world… I hope there is a silver lining somewhere. Thank you so much for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful week ❤

  2. The Handmaid’s Tale literally did give me nightmares after I read it! It was a good read but also an incredibly dark one.

    1. I know I will like it, I just don’t think I have it in me to go through it. I know it will make me spiral and go to a dark place giving where the world is headed. So I’d rather avoid these reads. Glad you liked 🙂

  3. I didn’t know that about Wolfsong, Lin. I’m with you, I won’t be reading it either. I tried Handmaid’s Tale back when it came out and I couldn’t get into it. It might be different now, we’ll see. I don’t read horror either, or a lot of fantasy, so none of these other ones are on my TBR shelf.

    1. I didn’t either, but I stumbled upon a few reviews that were appalled by this fact and so was I. This is something i see done more and more in books. Pushing some pedophile agenda and trying to normalise it is never alright. If there is one thing I’d do is always expose this and never stop speaking about it. Because this to me is such and important topic. I will never be quiet and will never support this agenda.

I knownthe Handmaid’s tale is a good book, but seeing where the world is headed right now it might be more than just a speculative read for me hah

Horror is one genre I am very picky about and read but with very few exceptions. I dont want to feel like i cant go to the toilet at 3 am hahahah hope you have a wonderful day, Carla ♡♡

      1. I agree with all these comments Lin. I think that’s why I don’t read a lot of horror, besides, I live alone,

  4. I stopped reading horror when I realised it wasn’t just an abstract idea.

    Thanks for sharing your #TTT

  5. I loved Divine Rivals, but when I started listening to Ruthless Vows, it just didn’t feel the same – so I tabled it for a while … maybe indefinitely.

The world is too crazy for dystopian and horror-y things right now. I need fun escapes. Happy romances. Twisty mysteries. Other worlds, lol 🙂
