MY RATING:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Synopsis:

My best friend’s older brother is back in town.

Do I care? Not one bit. Logan may have been my childhood crush, but I’ve always been little Tessa to him. Not to mention, he’s turned into a shallow flirt and I’m not looking to get played again.

What’s the problem, you ask? (Besides all the flirting.)

Read More:

Thanks to a scheming mutual friend, Logan and I find ourselves embroiled in a bet of absurd proportions. Now, instead of ignoring Logan and keeping my heart safely locked away, we have a date every Saturday night and a kiss looming on the horizon.

And the line between us is getting… muddy.

As long as Logan stays the shallow flirt, I’ll be fine. My heart is safe from the player. It’s the man underneath giving me a run for my money.

REVIEW:

This was my favourite book of the series so far! I just adored all the characters and the story.

Here we follow Tessa and Logan’s story. These characters, as mentioned, are all intertwined, but the books can definitely be read as standalones, too.

This here had a lot to unpack! The author gave us two very complex and well-developed individuals as main characters, for which I am very grateful. Logan really surprised me, and I wish there were more of his backstory and his friendship with Nathaniel, but I still liked everything about him.

Tessa had her own issues and aspirations, their banter and the whole fake relationship were funny and heartwarming to read about. It brought me nostalgia about my own childhood and the games we used to play with all the kids in our little village during summer holidays. Like I said, I am all here for whatever Cindy Steel has to offer!

This said, Tessa did some stupid stuff, which I’m not going to spoil, but it really annoyed me, and I could not overlook it, which, as a result, did ruin some of the magic between Logan and her for me.

There was a very touching moment between Logan and his father that made me sob a little.

A solid 4-star read for me, and there are only 2 books left for me to complete this series!

  1. Nice review, Lin. I’m glad this was another winner for the series. Too bad the FMC had to have those moments where you just want to shake her.

    1. Thank you! Maybe I am being too harsh, but I base it on common sense, and I realise that most characters in these books tend to lack it haha, which irritates me. But oh well 🙂

      1. Sometimes, I just shake my head at what characters so in books.
