MY RATING:

Synopsis:
Trapped in his tiny mountain cabin, she didn’t expect to fall for his big heart.
Exposing a prominent criminal family with an investigative news report didn’t exactly work out the way Sabrina had hoped. Instead of basking in the glory of her article’s success, she’s on the run from a powerful man who wants her dead.
Read More:
To stay safe, she’s forced to trade one bad situation for another. Stuck in the Montana wilderness, she’s secluded from anything resembling civilization or the modern-day world. The only good thing about her situation is the gorgeous mountain man assigned to protect her. Too bad he isn’t the slightest bit interested in a city girl like her.
Beau likes his life quiet and simple. Give him a peaceful day hiking in the woods with his dog, and he’s a happy man. He has no use for large crowds, noisy cities or dramatic women. So when a hotshot reporter rolls into town, dragging her big-time problems with her, he should have run for the hills. Instead, he volunteered to keep her safe. Bringing her into his world won’t be easy, but if he can convince her that Montana isn’t as terrifying as she believes, they might just be the perfect match.

REVIEW:
I know this is the 4th book in a series, but these books can be read as a standalone, and I only read it so I can complete a box from my Romance bingo challenge. Additionally, this year, as mentioned, I am in my romance era, and I am craving this genre.
Still looking for my kind of romance book, although I must say that The Last Letter did come very close to what I prefer my romances to look like, I am still to find the more cosy, low-stakes version of the latter.
This out of my system. It wasn’t a horrible book, but again not my cup of tea. Forced to spend 6 months in the middle of nowhere, deep in the mountains, with a handsome man who’s also gifted in that area (why is this always a theme in this genre? I mean, can we stop with the he has such a big, thick d… It’s so weird and unrealistic, and just cliche…) so tired of reading it in every second book. Oh, and they know it is because they can feel it when the guy rubs against them…
The whole plot was boring, maybe it is because I have not read the previous books, maybe it just was because IT WAS boring, I don’t know, and I have no plans on finding out.
I liked the dog and Montana’s mountains. That’s it. Had the author made it about them hiking and discovering the mountains, whilst gradually falling for one another, I would have loved it more, honestly. But I did like the ending, sorta.
It feels like the authors of this genre borrow the same sex scenes and descriptions every time. I swear it is like reading the same book, but with different characters. I don’t mind the spice, but for the love of intimacy, make it realistic at least!
Is it just me? Tell me, have you noticed the same or similar thing with these books? I need to know I am not alone in here LOL
Overall 2.5 stars.
