REVIEW:

My romance era has officially begun, and I have no shame in admitting it haha

This series was recommended to me, and I did not know what I was getting myself into. And I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The plot was interesting, since this is probably the first book I have read that features boxing, and as someone who doesn’t like this sport, I did actually enjoy the scenes where it was present.

The writing style was easy to follow, cringy when it comes to the spicy bits and romance, which played a big part in my final verdict. It was too sweet for my taste and way too melodramatic, but considering the rest, it was alright, and it did give me cosy and warm vibes.

I think this is a first for me, not being irritated by an FMC as much as usual. Dami was really likeable except in one instance where she really did piss me off, but yeah, we are all flawed, so I’ll give her that. Romeo was portrayed very well, and I guess the author knows what we women like in a man, so yes, he was the perfect stereotypical bad boy who falls for the good girl character.

I very much appreciated all of Romeo’s friends, and my oh my, I think this is another first where the side characters did not try to ruin anything, start a drama, be jealous or any other nasty thing. They were just so supportive and wholesome, and I liked every one and each of them. As well as most of Dami’s family.

It was interesting how the author addressed addiction alongside the influence and consequences of money. There were some very touching moments, some family drama, but the ending was satisfying.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read, and I ended up giving it 3.5 stars. I will be reading the next book in the series, which, to my understanding can all be read as standalones, which is great.
