PROMPT: Do you enjoy buddy reading or participating in group reads? If you do, what do you like most about them? Do you prefer reading 1-1 or in a big group? For those who might not have access to in-person group reads, do you have a recommendation about where to join online reading groups?

Happy Friday! Another week is coming to an end, and another LTB to partake in!

1. Do you enjoy buddy reading or participating in group reads? If you do, what do you like most about them?

Confession time, I have not read a book with a friend yet. I have read the same book a friend has read, but never simultaneously as a buddy read. Same as a group read. I have now joined a group on Goodreads and will venture into group reading, which I am excited about. It is a bit sad, because it is not inperson, which would have been lovely, alas, I live nowhere near any book club/group, etc. Long story short, to answer the question, I don’t know what I like about them yet, as I will find out at the end of this month haha.

2. Do you prefer reading 1-1 or in a big group?

I would not mind either, to be honest. I have no problem reading 1-1 or in a big group I enjoy the ride 🙂

3. For those who might not have access to in-person group reads, do you have a recommendation about where to join online reading groups?

As mentioned, I am using Goodreads for this year, and there are so many diverse groups on there. Fable is another one that comes to mind a lot of book club options. Personally, I have not participated in any yet, but I definitely will. Last but not least, a new discovery for me, PageBound has something similar to book clubs/groups that they call Quests. This is another fun option, and I have joined 2 quests there. These are the main ones at the top of my head.

I wish there were in-person group reads in my area, but I don’t know about any…

Would you join any book club/group or quests this year? If you have PageBound, feel free to follow me there. Here is my profile. Happy reading 🙂

  1. Ah Lin, I didn’t know you were on Pagebound!!! It’s my favourite bookish site! I’ve just followed you.

Maybe you and I will have to do a nature-y buddy read sometime!

    1. Yes, I am relatively new there. But I love it. I saw a post where you mentioned it, and I followed you, but I don’t think I ever got to post a comment under it. Mommy brain here! And thank you for the follow, I also saw we joined 2 quests 🙂

I would love to do a nature-yoga buddy read with you. I have found so many nature-related books I’d love to read. Definitely we can make this happen 🙂

  3. Ooh, I didn’t know about that feature on Pagebound! They do so much great stuff all the time though—they’re like blogger goals for me. 🤭 Quests do sound fun and like an interesting way to do group reads! I hope that you enjoy the group you’ve joined on Goodreads! There are definitely some good ones if people take the time to search. Thanks for joining LTB this week!

    1. They do, and I love it there. Oh, you are there for me already! I love your blog, the aesthetics and everything!

Yes, I joined 2 quests, and I love that there is a space where you can post and communicate with other people reading the same book as you. Do you have a PB profile?

  4. One of my best friends and I tend to do “accidental buddy reads” – where we both pick up the same book, one after the other. That turns out to be pretty fun 🙂 But I’m not sure I’ve ever done an intentional buddy read … I like the idea though.

    1. haha this is so cute! Same here, I love the idea and would love to try it out one day. Although I am not sure how good of a buddy reader I would be, but stil 🙂

  5. I do buddyreads with Mallika from Literary Potpourri almost every month.Check our list of books for 2026 : https://wordsandpeace.com/2026/01/04/2026-reading-plans-and-challenges/ – scroll down to ‘buddyreads’, right under ‘Month events”
What we do is take turn to share our notes as we read a book, like this format: https://wordsandpeace.com/2026/01/24/buddy-read-the-guest-cat-chapters-24-29/I listed the details under the cover. So our notes for Chapters 1-8 are on her website, notes for chapters 9-15 on mine, etc.If there’s a 2026 book of interest to you, let’s know, and we could include you to take your turn to post our notes

    1. This is great! And I really like how you structure the review, with the chapters and how each one of you shares their impressions.

Thank you so much for the invitation, Emma! The Name of the Rose was one of my late granny’s favourite book!

There a group on Meetup local to my area, where you bring your own book and read for 30 minuets.

Page Bound is a new to me website. Will has to check it out.
