Prompts: Happy Non-Fiction November! Do you read non-fiction? If you do read it, what do you love about it? What are your favourite categories to read about (i.e. true crime, historical, memoirs, self-help), and what are some of your favourite NF books? Do you have any tips for those who want to get into reading more non-fiction? If you don’t read non-fiction, what don’t you like about it? Do you think that will change (or has it already changed) over the years?
Happy Monday! Hope you are all doing well. I have been busy lately; the little one started walking, and we can’t stop “running” after her, haha. Also, the weather here is bad, rainy and cold, so we spend most of the time at home. I am juggling the housework, looking after her and thinking what I should cook next instead of what I should read next 😀 Hence, I am doing LTB later than usual!
1. Do you read non-fiction? If you do read it, what do you love about it? What are your favourite categories to read about (i.e. true crime, historical, memoirs, self-help), and what are some of your favourite NF books?
Yes! I do read non-fiction now; in the past, I was not very intrigued by this genre, but as I grew older, I started to enjoy it more and more. The categories that I fancy most are anything to do with science/history, memoirs, occasionally self-help, but mainly art/crafts, parenting, humour, and you guessed it, COOKING.
Some of my favourite NF books:
2. Do you have any tips for those who want to get into reading more non-fiction?
As far as tips go, just read whatever you feel like reading. The worst thing you can do is pick up something that you know you will not enjoy and would probably have to DNF the book midway or just not have a great time with it overall at the end, unless you totally have to. However, one thing I would like to recommend is to try to venture outside of your comfort zone once in a while, and you might be surprised by what you might discover!
3. If you don’t read non-fiction, what don’t you like about it? Do you think that will change (or has it already changed) over the years?
For me, it has changed already, as mentioned earlier. I was a hardcore fantasy reader, and did not even read romances or poetry or any other genre. But I am so glad I did not stay in my bubble and got to experience different literature.
Take care, happy reading, and God bless you all!
