MY RATING:
THE REVIEWS:
These books complete the Roaring Through Life series and I am pleased to inform you that I enjoyed each one for them in a different way.
The Motivational book offers a more in-depth view of the author’s personal life growing up, and a few stories did touch me, in particular the story about his brother: Expressing the Unbreakable Bonds of Brothers: I, too, have a younger brother, and this one did hit a bit harder in a good way as I could totally relate to the story.
The rest of the short stories were definitely good and reflective, and it was a 3.5-star read for me.
From the Reflection book, I really liked most of the stories, and I think this one was the most relatable and touching of them all. The author presents us with some more personal stories about his parents, their turbulent relationship, the divorce, the tragic and untimely passing of his father and being raised by a single mother with his younger brother. In this book, we also have a story about segregation and racism during that time.
A solid 4-star read for me
Last but not least, the Intentional book has invaluable short stories with life lessons and reflections. I loved that the author included the books that have helped him in some way, and that he mentioned The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is great, because I loved that book. I know you either love it or hate it, and I am lucky to be from the former. I can see why Mark has mentioned this book. I found it very insightful and thought-provoking. In this final book of this series, we also have interesting tips regarding identifying personality traits in people and some useful questions to ask ourselves and reflect upon.
Overall, a 3.5 star read for me
I did not mention this in my previous reviews, but the only thing I have to say as a remark is the AI-generated photos for each short story. In my opinion, they were absolutely unnecessary and distracting. The way the stories were written was enough to help us readers create a vivid picture of what the author was trying to convey, hence, I think the photos could have been left out.
In conclusion, this series is perfect if you are looking for something quick and engaging but also not heavy or burdensome. Again, you might be able to relate to more of the life experiences than I was, but still, this did not make the stories any less or less enjoyable for me.
