THE REVIEW:
What can I say? This book gets straight to the point from the get-go.
I really could relate to some parts of it when it comes to the stress and how it affects us and our whole being, from our mind to our body, and how detrimental it could really be. Many don’t realise that stress is the main cause of most modern mental and physical illnesses, and I appreciated that the author did mention it in this book and gave suggestions on how to tackle it and what might help reduce it in our everyday lives.
In order to be able to relax and unwind from our stressful and hectic lives, having a hobby or doing exercise is crucial for our well-being. I must be honest, I am good at the hobby part but not so much at the exercise part. I know it is not an excuse, but being a mum to a baby is no easy task, and it is all-consuming in its own right. This does not leave you with a lot of free space to indulge in certain things as much as one would like. Also, not having anyone to help out plays a huge part in who can and who cannot afford to do the mindfulness exercises and self-care routines mentioned here.
Is this book something you have not read or seen before? No, it gives advice that the author gathered from various sources that are linked at the end of the book, which is absolutely fine, but it did feel like reading an essay on the topic, rather than getting a personal account and more in-depth talk on certain topics. I thought there would be more on motherhood and how one could cope and get to build some self-help routine around it, but not much was mentioned about it. Also, it was written in a way that it assumes most women have the actual time to do those things, such as meditate, go to fitness, etc.
Also, the stories of the celebrities used as a way of inspiration for us readers to get around and start our well-being journey did not sit well with me. I have nothing in common with Oprah or Tina Turner… to name a few, so I found this utterly pointless...
Anyway, there is still some great advice and useful information that some might find helpful!
