MY RATING

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Synopsis:

Reid Flores was living a double life. Number cruncher by day, rock cover band drummer by night. He was creating a life for himself, how he wanted. That was until a family crisis begged him to take a wife.

The last thing he was expecting was for a woman to color his life with uncertainty. When the carefree Daisy crept into his life, he realized maybe he wasn’t as in control as he thought he was. The one thing he wanted for himself, his family said he couldn’t have.

Read More:

Daisy Blooms’ life was finally her own, ceramics artist and successful pottery shop owner. Her carefree demeanor was carefully calculated, keeping her anxieties behind a façade of aloofness. When secrets from her past come crashing in, would she learn to finally accept help? And would it be at the hands of a hottie drummer?

Forcing themselves apart, the pull couldn’t be ignored when Reid declared himself her protector against her encroaching past. Now she had a bodyguard she didn’t need, and a hunk on her couch she didn’t want around.

At least they were both in control. Weren’t they?

THE REVIEW:

Uhmmm this was an OK read for me. It started off innocent, but then at one point went spicy and totally did not see this coming, not in this fashion.

I mean nothing wrong with the spiciness, but can we at least get to know the characters more and give them more depth and develop their relationship and personalities before we throw them under the covers and start with the explicit sex scenes? Also, I am confused; it turned out they both had a crush on one another since high school, but neither knew who the other person was. I feel like I missed a chunk somewhere..

This aside, I liked how the author shed light on alcoholism and stalking. These are definitely issues that do not receive enough spotlight, and stalking should be taken and looked into more seriously than just a mere obsession and brushed off with “it will go away once he/she gets bored.

Alcoholism is an addiction, and people who suffer from it do not get enough support. It is quite sad when children are involved and have to be the parent of the parent… It is a tough reality for many, and a vicious circle that I hope will get the attention and support that those families/people deserve.

Also, thank you for the pottery and the drums! At least it was not a painter and a guitarist lol, that was nice for a change, and I liked the Ghost reference!

Carl is someone whom you would be happy to throw a punch in his face, I so wanted to do it myself..

Overall, a solid 3-star read for me.
