Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Today’s prompt: My Unpopular Bookish Opinions (You can share opinions surrounding being a reader, a book reviewer, etc. OR you could share your opinions on specific books that go against what everyone else is saying. Are there any books you loved that most people didn’t, or vice versa?)

Ookk the prompt for today is interesting and I do have some books I would like to share with you when it comes to unpopular opinions!

I am going straight for the jugular with the first one and I do not care because I will always speak my mind when it comes to pushing paedophilic agendas regardless of who is pushing it!

  1. All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood: clicking on the title will take you to my review I have nothing else to add
  2. Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi: a lot of people seem to NOT enjoy this book/series, I on the other hand, loved every bit of it
  3. Wooing the Witch Queen by Stephanie Burgis: a most recent one, it was OK for me but I did not love it as much as anyone else claimed to do
  4. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho: it looks like the general opinion is you either love it or hate it, well I fall into the first group. I never wrote a review though, but it was one of those books that really touched me
  5. Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros: what a letdown this one was, I loved Fourth Wing and I was expecting a lot from its sequel when it comes to her brother, the political dynamics and the plot as a whole all I got was sex, sex, sex, a bit of dragons and a little bit of action… did not deserve a review
  6. Geekerella by Ashley Poston: I wrote a short review on it, it was nah for me
  7. The Upside of Fallin by Alex Light: another nope for me
  8. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by Victoria E. Schwab: I love Schwab, do not get me wrong I love A Darker Shade of Magic more than anything, but this one was a letdown. Maybe if I reread it I will feel differently…
  9. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart: the public does not like this one, but I loved it. It found me at the right time
  10. Every Heart a Doorway (Wayward Children, #1) by Seanan McGuire: people were raving about this book, but to me it was Meh.. it left me indifferent really and more pissed off

Tell me how you feel about any of these if you have read them!

  1. I still need to read Fourth Wing and therefore the rest of the series. I get bored with sex scenes and fighting scenes so we shall see 😂

    Have a great week!

      3. I know! I haven’t seen anything like that for a while which is why I asked for them for Mother’s Day 😂

Yeah, maybe after a break 😂

Thank you. Hopefully I will get it done for my Summer Reading challenge. We will see 😂

      5. 🤞🏼 I did it last year for the first time. It’s called 20 Books of Summer. You can choose 20, 15 or 10 books to read over the Summer months. I will have to remember to message you when it starts!

    1. Yeah, I loved the first book because the world was interesting and the dragons, but with the second one, Yarros lost me. Definitely overrated! Thank you for stopping by!

  4. I find sex scenes boring to read, too, especially when there are a lot of them.

    1. Saame, I do not mind the occasional spicy scene, but when it does nothing to the plot and it becomes distracting and straight-up literary porn, it is a no for me..

  5. I felt the same way about Every Heart a Doorway. I’m glad people enjoyed it, and the rest of the series, but it’s not one I’ll be continuing with.

  6. I actually really liked Iron Flame and I liked it even more on re-read. But everything I’ve ever read from V.E. Schwab has been such a letdown, especially Addie LaRue. I don’t get the love for that one at all, it’s definitely a not for me book. But I feel like I’m definitely in the minority there.

    1. The main reason Iron Flame let me down because there was nothing about her brother, and since it left us on that cliffhanger, one would expect a backstory and more in-depth political revelations, so to speak, but I did not get that.. And this is fine, I have no issues with people who liked lol I’m happy. As for Addie, the utter letdown could not get the hype, loved the time period it was set in, though.

  7. I haven’t read The Invisible Life of Addie Larue yet, but it’s been hyped up so much that I’m not sure how I’ll feel about it. Generally, the books people rave about turn out to be letdowns.

    1. Same, the ones I keep hearing about all the time, with a few exceptions, have always been a letdown. Maybe you will like it, though. I always say, give it a try; if it is not for you, it will be evident. Thank you for stopping by!

  8. I did not post this week because my mind went blank and I was too busy to think harder about it. I remember reading the blurb for All the Ugly and Wonderful Things and just thinking, nope, who would read this?? I had wanted to read The Empyrean series, but don’t want to just read the first one and you commend about sex, sex, sex, means the second one is not for me. Great post, Lin.

    1. I, too, skip sometimes; there is no need to post every time. When I started it, this was my exact thought, and to see all the women and mothers liking it and rooting for a 25-year-old fancying an 8-year-old girl and grooming her to only sleep with him when she is 13 or 15 don’t remember anymore is to say the least outrageous and whoever approved this to be published is not right in the head. I don’t know how the Empyrean series goes after Iron Flame, but for now, I left it, and like I said, the way the first book ended, it promised more revelations on the political side and her brother. But the main focus was elsewhere, at least to me it felt that way. If you ever pick it up I do hope you end up liking it
