Book Blogger Hop is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. The meme occurs weekly, on a Friday. Each week, a specific prompt is chosen, a book-related question for participants to address.

Today’s prompt: Do you judge an author’s works based on their political stances? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

Ok, this one got me…

I guess the short answer is Yes and No. Without getting into politics, there were a few instances where I stumbled upon either far-left or far-right agendas, and I liked neither. just like everything, there should be balance, and if there is too much of one thing or the other, then we know what happens.

However, I tend to stay away from politics just because they are not done in favour of the population, not anymore, anyway, lol. Correct me if I’m wrong, but when was the last time we could say we are stress-free and we can afford healthcare or food without having to sell a kidney and an arm?

This said, regardless of the political stance of an author, if their book is good and has no agenda pushing onto us, I have no issue reading said book.

  2. I’m tired of the far-extremes of each side pushing an agenda. Whatever happened to the common good?!

  4. I am frustrated with the inability of our politicians to work together. They seem to be more at war with each other than working to help common people.

    1. Absolutely, and this is true for each country I have lived in! Everywhere is the same, Italy, the UK, South Korea, and Bulgaria. They all seem inept to comprehend the population’s needs and priorities the actual important things! Such as education, health care, actually adequate food/medicine pricing, infrastructure, actually considering parking lots whenever deciding to build new block/houses lol this is becoming a huge problem especially in the European countries! Not even going to go into childcare, the only thing they care about is how much money can we pocked now and fill up our bank accounts with European projects and launder some! Corruption at its finest. Therefore, I don’t do politics because if I start to care about the i need to kill all of them entitled brats and nepotists calling themselves politicians and working in the name of their people. F! Off! (Not you I mean them lol)

  5. I don’t read or not read a book because of an author’s political views. I read a book because I like it. Have a great weekend!

  6. I’ve definitely been blind sided by politics while reading a mystery, and I did not enjoy it. For one thing, I read to decrease the stress in my life. 🙂

    Good answer.
