Ok, this sentence alone got me hooked, I love me some ghost and creepy vibes books that have anything to do with people being able to communicate with the afterlife and all the good stuff that comes with it (depending on how you look at things might be bad I don’t know..)
So, when I saw Regan from PeruseProject recommending this book, I knew I had to read it because I enjoy her recommendations. Unfortunately, this time around, I was left disappointed.
For some reason I found myself not interested in the characters at all, the story did not grab me, and for the majority of the audiobook, I struggled to even follow what was going on and why. I did appreciate the author’s writing and the representation of the class issues and how Ropa had to take care of her grandmother and little sister, as well as their culture. But for the rest of it, the whole plot at times felt too slow or too rushed, especially the ending, and simply did not work well for me.
I don’t think I will be continuing with the trilogy, but I hope whoever reads them enjoys them more than I did!
