AMULET: THE STONEKEEPER VOL.1
This graphic novel took a turn I was not expecting at the very beginning. I was hooked and already emotionally invested from the first few pages.
We follow Emily and her mother Karen and brother Navin moving into a new family home in the middle of nowhere due to some circumstances we find out at the beginning of the story. Everything seems alright until something happens, and Emily and her family go on a quest they never imagined nor dreamed of.
Magic, the chosen one vibe, and lots of interesting monsters and characters along the way. Pages filled with great art, adventure, and so much more.

As I mentioned already, this had me hooked from the beginning. Emily lost her dad before her eyes due to a car crash in which only her mum and brother survived. As a consequence, in order to make ends meet, they are forced to move outside the city in the middle of nowhere into a family-owned house of their great-grandfather who went missing many years ago. But once they arrive at the house, something very weird and scary happens. Karen gets kidnapped by a monster and taken to the magical world of Alledia. Both Em and Nav follow behind in an attempt to save her and return back home. But little did they know that this mission would turn out to be much longer than they originally anticipated.
Eventually, we meet their great-grandfather, Silas, on his dead bed, and before he passes away he reveals to Emily that she is the next stone keeper and that the whole future of Alledia is now in her hands, and she has to save it. (no pressure at all.. thanks, great-grandad lol)
Our characters are only left with the robots that he created, which are now their companions and guides in this epic quest.

As their adventure continues, Em and her brother are now faced with the difficult task of finding an antidote that would save their mother from a deadly poison.
We are introduced to new characters that help them along the way, and we discover more of the picture and what is actually going on in the country of Alledia and not only!
AMULET VOL. 3-8
In the rest of the books, a lot is happening, and Emily, Navin, and all the other characters that they encounter are all united with one cause: saving Alledia and its people whatever it takes. However, Emily has a very difficult task of taming her powers, learning how to use them, and most importantly, not losing control…
I love the way the series is depicted, with its political and sociological issues and how our protagonists develop as well as their decision-making. The magic system is also great, and the art gets better and better as the story progresses.
Cannot wait for the next volume to come out!
