I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. The writing style was pleasant, and I did like how the author was going back and forth between the present and the past. We get to know the main characters, Percy, Sam, and Charlie.
The whole plot revolves around them since they were in their teens and up until what is happening now between them. Percy left the town they all grew up in 12 years ago and has not talked nor seen Sam and Charlie who are brothers, by the way, very hot ones apparently, since then.
Something happened, things were unsaid, and now an unfortunate event has reunited them once again. The question is, will everything this time be cleared out, and can love blossom once again?
SPOILER SECTION
Alright, let us get to the juicy stuff.
First off, there were some hot scenes in there that I did not anticipate would be so graphic (not that I mind…)
For some reason of the two brothers, I liked Charlie more, I don’t know why, lol.
Interestingly enough, I did enjoy the characters and their development as we saw them grow throughout the years. It gave me nostalgic, lovely, dovely summery vibes, and I was all for it!
Percy and Sam were a thing when they were teenagers. We did see how their relationship and bond grew over time, up until he had to go to college to study medicine. Charlie was around Percy a lot, during the time Sam was gone, and I did see this coming, I just did not expect it would go the way it did. One thing leads to another, and shit happens, and now it is a hot mess… The girl you love sleeps with your brother.
Yes, I don’t have an issue with this trope, I just wanted this aspect to be explored more.
Another letdown was that we discovered that Sam already knew about what happened between his brother and then-girlfriend Percy. Yet again, we don’t have the whole picture, only her point of view. It was a bit annoying, as I would have liked to know more about what Sam went through when he found out his brother had sex with the girl he loves.
You see, this is nothing that has not happened in real life already. However, give me moreee!!! I wanted to see the dynamics between the two brothers. After all, this is a huge thing.
What was his reaction, what were his emotions, and how did he overcome this?!! I needed to know more about Charlie’s unresolved feelings for Percy and what his thoughts were. He did say he liked her a lot. Was it just a sexual thing he was craving from her? We were led to believe that there was more than meets the eye since he was her first kiss. There were a lot of signs he had a thing for her aghhh….
These were my biggest issues with this book. Hence, my rating was dropped down to 4 stars. Otherwise, it could have easily been a 5-star read for me.
Overall, I would recommend it if you enjoy romance and some steamy scenes. Those were really good, actually….
