Rating: 2 out of 5.

A book following the love between a teen boy and a teen girl.

That is all you need to know. Nothing more to say. This book was forgettable, to say the least. I cannot remember the names of the characters to safe my life.

I just don’t even know where to begin, this book landed on my radar by a recommendation of people that said it will make me bawl my eyes out as I was looking for a sad read. Well, guess what not a single tear was produced whilst reading this book… My expectations were that this story would be of the caliber of The Fault In Our Stars by John Green or Me Before You by Jojo Moyes something gut-wrenching, visceral, soul-tearing, tormenting even, got none of that. All I’ve got was confusion and why did I even read this?

Ok, it was not that bad, it actually was an OK book and OK writing. I liked the fact that we had some diversity in nationality. It was nice at the beginning, but as the story progressed, please take a few seconds to see the actual footage of my facial expressions below:

SPOILER SECTION

So, from what I can remember the whole story revolved around the love between our main characters. How inseparable they were, and it was this huge burning love. I can’t I found this way too cheesy and corny and it was so irritating to read about. Both characters were so immature and did and said things that made no sense. A typical plot filled with unsaid things, misunderstandings that make you roll your eyes and scream at the book to get a grip (that never happened to you? just me?… oh..)!

The whole she getting sick part and her dying was written in a way that did not tug any heart-strings for me, it was annoying more than anything. And the fact he died at the end after a few years to only be reunited with her in the afterlife was like why… Why would you write it like that? What was the purpose of such an ending? I am still wondering why. It was so weird to read about I can’t even…

I just think it was for a shock value that would make it sadder for the reader, but that failed miserably. It might be an unpopular opinion, however, that is how I felt when reading this book, and I am serious I cannot remember their names, I don’t even wanna look them up so sorry about that.

FINAL THOUGHTS

My rating was 3 stars, to begin with, but shortly after I changed it to 2 stars since this story left me more annoyed and pissed off than heartbroken and in dire need of a happy-go-lucky story to read. I would have been more interested in the story between the female character and her grandmother and her love story with her grandad than this one.

The cover is cute, though.

If this was a book you enjoyed I am really happy for you. Let me know what you liked/disliked about it! I am curious to know your opinion 🙂
