What have I just read??!! This book, this book…. ahhh I cannot find words to even describe it. And what was that??? I totally did not see this one coming, well done Victoria! Well done! (no worries will not spoil you guys!)
It has been almost an year since I added it in my TBR’s pile and left it there. Finally I felt super guilty about that and I picked it up and this was one of the best decisions I have made so far in 2017
(besides the 20 chicken stripes I ate all by myself… but that’s another story..)
Honestly I was little bit scared to read it, because I have read soooo many good reviews about it and I was expecting too much I guess and the thought that it might not turn out to be as good as I expected it to be was taking over me. And as a consequence I kept pushing the reading farther. But good brain of mine could not resist any longer and forced me to read it! It went like this
Brain: Yo… You ain’t gonna pick up A darker shade of magic yet?
Brain: If you don’t I am going to fail you at the most unexpected time. like that one time when you kept trying to explain what is a black hole and why you like books so much but all your colleagues could hear was 744%?%$^£^&?^%&%^$^$%^ … (evil laugh)
Me:… Ok! Dammit here I am reading it!!
the relationship between me and my brain..
THE REVIEW spoiler free
Actually I had notes about various things I wanted to talk about, however my phone died and I lost everything, and since I can remember something for only a few seconds I do not recall most of the things that I was willing to discuss…. (good thing they fixed my phone though thanks for asking)
This said, the story was unique literally a different kind of magic and amazing worlds! C’mon who doesn’t like London and especially where there are several Londons??
Briefly we have magic, awesome personages, lots of travels and adventures, epic fights, power hungry villains and a stone that is the cause of everything yes a stone! Lot of mystery yet to be unveiled a lot more yet to happen and some shocking plot twist associated to our pirate to be lady… but no more saying about it if you want to know more get the book and find out!!
Our lovely and not so lovely characters:
Kell – Antari, one of kind, awesome cute guy travelling between the Londons has magic in him, one blue and one dark black eye. He is our main protagonist and there is sooo much to be discovered about him. Fells like he is an onion the more you peel the more you find out!
Lila aka Delilah Bard – at first what got me liiiittle bit annoyed was Lila’s personality, but eventually throughout the book she made her way into my heart and now pretty much I have a girl crush on her… (>.>) She reminds me soooo much in way of course, of our Elisabeth from the epic pirate movie series evah! Here pics bellow on how I am imagining Lila in real life or fictional life…
Pretty cool huh? I know I know she is bad-ass awesome and yes soo glad we did like each other at the end. Totally worth it. She has some deep dark secret that I am going to reveal!! I already have my guesses muahhahaah
She has that boyish like personality and that mysterious vibe to her that makes you wonder things and you just want to get into her head and find out what is going on there most of the time. Trust me you are gonna love her.
Rhy on the other hand is my FAV character and I totally adore him he is s dork he is Dean of Sam and Dean Winchester.
You know Supernatural right (you better do!)?? Well the relationship between Kell and Rhy felt totally like Dean and Sam and I need more of that.
*do not judge me, but I strongly ship these two *.*
There are pretty cool and savage villains, that I must say I really did enjoy getting to know .
Astrid and Athos Dane twins! From White London the most scary one of them all, maybe because I still do not know how Black London is, but for sure the White one is the most creepy one for me at least for now.
We also have Holland which is another Antari, but a little bit deeply damaged emotionally… He was a total fog to me and I did sympathise with him at a certain point of the read.
There are Red London (Kell is from there), Grey (Lila’s) White and Black! And I recently took a test

Find out which one is yours and let me know!!
What I liked the most?!
The (and now do not get disappointed you romance lovers) absence of romance.
Romance is present pretty much in every book that I have read so far, this was like a fresh air for me and I totally appreciated how Victoria made the whole story and pulled up things together perfectly without using romance as a base of everything.
So THANK YOU FOR THAT!
In conclusion I gave the book 5 out of 5 stars, recommend it to everyone so do not wait like I did!!
